Department of Mathematics

Jamie Summerville, Ph.D., Chair

The Department of Mathematics at Mid-Continent University offers a major and minor in mathematics.

A deep and exciting study in its own right, mathematical sciences have lately received increased attention by virtue of its applicability to a wide range of interesting problems in the physical, biological, and social sciences, in statistics, in computer science, in engineering, in business, in industry, and in finance. Students who major or minor in mathematics are trained in the modeling, analysis, and computation necessary for solving problems in their other fields of interest. To be on the cutting edge of many fields today, one must be mathematically literate. To say the least, mathematics teaches a student logical thinking and problem solving skills-skills all employers look for in new candidates.
