TRAVEL STUDY

During each academic year at Mid-Continent University, students have the option to participate in a travel study opportunity. Students register and pay tuition for a 4-hour elective course that includes some class time and travel to an excellent location for knowledge. Travel may be domestic and international depending on the year and the destination. The benefits of this educational opportunity outside the classroom are unique. Students will grow and expand in ways that can never be achieved in the confines of the regular classroom. Students who participated in this program give great testimonials about the overall experience and how much they learned. This experience may produce different results for individual students depending upon how much they have traveled during their life. However, even for the less traveled student, the experience is safe and pleasurable, while incorporating a new process for learning.

Our students have traveled to Phoenix, Arizona, San Antonio, Texas, Mexico and cruised the southern Carribean. In January 2008 the Travel Study journeyed to San Diego, California. While in San Diego students attended classes that will help them prepare for their future, they saw a play, learned to ice skate, went to Los Angeles for a day, took a desert tour, participated in mission work by preparing food for the homeless, and became experts at getting around the city on the Metro Transport buses and trolleys.

In January 2009, the students will travel to the Caribbean.

Mid-Continent highly recommends this experience for our students so that upon completion of all college work, they can also include this great experience on their resume. In order to truly Build Effective Leaders, Mid-Continent supports this program as one of the best ways to equip and prepare our students.
