TERM ONE
IDC 3113 – ADULT DEVELOPMENT AND LIFE ASSESSMENT (3 CREDITS)
This course provides an exploration of the search for and discovery of truth, its relation to the Christian Scripture, and an understanding of the use of critical thinking, argument construction, and source evaluation for theological disciplines.
CLD 3323 – EDUCATIONAL PRINCIPLES (3 CREDITS)
An examination of the principles and practices of educational ministry in the local church, its administration, and the significance of various teaching methods.
THE 3403 – BIBLICAL INTERPRETATION (3 CREDITS)
A study of basic principles of biblical interpretation, application through exegetical studies of selected biblical passages, and examination of various methods of Bible study.
CLD 3013 – MINISTRY BASED COUNSELING (3 CREDITS)
A course designed to assist prospective ministers and other counselors in developing a mature understanding of themselves as biblical counselors and also to develop an effective counseling approach in the local church setting.
TERM TWO
THE 2203 – THEOLOGY & APOLOGETICS (3 CREDITS)
This course is a rational defense for the truth claims of the Christian faith. The course details questions which both skeptics and sincere inquirers pose to Christian adherents, and consideration of the main responses form within the Christian tradition.
HOM 4203 – CREATIVE BIBLICAL PREACHING (3 CREDITS)
A course based on the philosophy that the preaching which best reflects biblical authority and content is expository preaching. It seeks to expose the advanced student to the principles by which the biblical text governs and provides the content of the sermons. Major emphasis is placed on the practical laboratory experiences of the classroom.
THE 4103 – OLD TESTAMENT THEOLOGY (3 CREDITS)
A systemic study of the major teachings of the Old Testament. The relationship between the Old and New Testaments will also be discussed.
EVG 3103 – CHURCH EVANGELISM (3 CREDITS)
A study of the various aspects of a perennial program of evangelism in and through the local church. Particular emphasis will be given to types of local church evangelism programs.
TERM THREE
CLD 4613 – CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP (3 CREDITS)
The Biblical role of leaders will be explored. The student will be introduced to the nature of change and conflict and its impact upon the church and the pastor.
CLD 4303 – CHURCH ADMINISTRATION (3 CREDITS)
A study of the theoretical and practical aspects of administration in the local church. The class emphasizes leadership skills, staff/volunteer relationships, and program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
MIS 3303 – BIBLICAL BASIS OF MISSIONS (3 CREDITS)
An in-depth study of God’s redemptive plan of the Ages.
THE 4203 – NEW TESTAMENT THEOLOGY (3 CREDITS)
A systematic study of the major teaching of the New Testament.
TERM FOUR
HIS 3103 – HISTORY OF CHRISTIANITY (3 CREDITS)
A survey of the development of Christianity from New Testament times to the present is reviewed with emphasis on the general missionary movements. (Prerequisite: HIS 1113 World Civilization and HIS 1223 Modern World History or permission of the instructor.)
THE 3123 – ADVANCED CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE (3 CREDITS)
This course is a systematic study of major divisions and themes within Christian theology, discussing the major challenges to orthodoxy, the confessional nature of Christian thought, and the relationship of biblical, systematic, and dogmatic theology to church life.
CLD 3433 – ADVANCED CHRISTIAN MINISTRY (3 CREDITS)
This course provides a critical examination of contemporary leadership principles in the light of a biblical worldview, criteria for examination of leadership and administration, and integration of various leadership styles.
CLD 4503 – CHURCH PLANTING & GROWTH (3 CREDITS)
An introduction to the principles of church growth as they apply in American churches and application of those principles to any real church situation (Cross Listed: MIS 3103)
